YOU can easily acquire an American, Australian, British or Canadian accent with speech training or from living several years abroad and come across as someone fluent in English. But you give yourself away if you use words wrongly, especially in e-mails, faxes and reports.

In the online world of blogging or chatting, such errors are easily forgiven but they are unacceptable in the business or educational environments.

Homophones, words that sound alike but convey different meanings, form many of these confusing pairs. Used wrongly in writing, they reflect someone with a poor grasp of grammar or a confused writer.

Be mindful of these cunning couples and be confused no more!

Accept (v.) — to agree to take something.

Except (prep.) — not including.

“Boss, I accept all your free books except ‘1,000 Ways to Manage Houseflies’,” said Pee Nang to Kay El.

Advice (n.) — one’s opinion about what somebody else should do or how they should behave.

Advise (v.) — to give advice to somebody or to recommend something to somebody.

“Are you sure, Pee Nang? I’d strongly advise you to reconsider the manual. You may regret not taking my advice if you’re suddenly faced with flies,” Kay El said.

Affect (v., pronounced uh-fekt) — to have influence on something or somebody.

Effect (n., pronounced ee-fekt) — a change produced by an action or a cause.

“Yes, I’m positive, Kay El,” Pee Nang answered. “If my mother’s way of handling house flies has affected them greatly by reducing them to zero, I don’t think I need to know the effect that 999 other ways have on them.”

All ready — completely prepared.

Already (adv.) — previously or by this time.

“Ahh ... looks like your house is all ready for living,” Kay El praised. “To tell you the truth, although I’ve already read the manual twice, I’m still having problems at my home!”

Beside (prep.) — at the side of somebody or something.

Besides (prep.) — in addition.

Pee Nang laughed. “I’ll be happy to tell my mother about your housefly problem. Since she lives beside my house, she could drop by your place later. Besides, she will be excited to have you try the apple pie she baked today.”

Complement (v.) — to add new or contrasting features which show the best qualities of something or which improve it.

Compliment (v.) — express praise, admiration or approval.

Dessert (n., pronounced dee-zert) — any sweet food eaten at the end of a meal.

Desert1 (n., pronounced deh-zert) — a large area of land that has very little water and very few plants growing on it, e.g. the Sahara Desert.

Desert2 (v., pronounced dee-zert) — to go away from a place without intending ever to return.

“Ice cream for dessert?” Pee Nang exclaimed. “Your place doesn’t exactly sound like the depressing desert1 you always portray it to be. You make it seem as if the whole world has deserted2 you!”

Maybe (adv.) — perhaps.

May be — to express possibility.

“Maybe I could have exaggerated my situation a bit. But seriously, I may be having a rather serious house fly problem,” Kay El explained in a doleful tone.

Breath (n., pronounced breh-th) — the air you take into and let out of your lungs.

Breathe (v., pronounced bree-th) — the act of taking air into and letting out of your lungs.

“Okay, take a deep breath,” Pee Nang assured Kay El with a smile. “I may have been too hard on you. Once my mother works her magic at your place, I’m sure you’ll breathe easier after that.”

Coincident (adj.) — happening in the same place or at the same time.

Coincidence (n.) — similar event happening at the same time by chance.

“Talking about breathing, isn’t it a coincidence that the houseflies started appearing the day after you came over with those pungent prawn crackers?” Kay El remarked. “I remember reading that the presence of house flies is coincident with the presence of dried seafood.”

Loose (adj.) — not tight.

Lose (v.) — present tense for “lost”.

“Now, now, Kay El, let’s not lose track of the discussion here,” Pee Nang said hurriedly. “We were talking about fixing your house fly problem.”

In an undertone, he muttered, “And not about a loose pack of prawn crackers disappearing in your home ...”

Later (adv.) — afterwards.

Latter (adj.) — the second of two things or people already mentioned.

“You were going to confirm the time my mother could drop by later. Now you’re going back to a visit I made in the past,” Pee Nang reminded Kay El. “Let’s not confuse the former with the latter, shall we?”

Personal (adj., pronounced as per-suh-nuhl) — private.

Personnel (n., pronounced as per-suh-nell) — staff members

“Anyway, let’s not take things personally,” Pee Nang said cheerily. “By the way, the Personnel Department is questioning me about being away from the office for three hours yesterday.”

Principal (n.) — administrator.

Principle (n.) — guiding rule for personal behaviour.

“I’m sure you were on company business. I know you to be a man ofprinciple,” Kay El said. “The head of the Personnel Department is always acting like a school principal.”

Quiet (adj., pronounced kwai-yuht) — silent.

Quite (adv. Pronounced kwait) — very or actually.

“You are quite right I am!” Pee Nang replied emphatically. “Now that we are all settled, I’ll just slip away quietly.”

Than (conj.) — used after a comparative like “faster”, “cleaner”, “healthier”, etc.

Then (adv.) — referring to a time in the past or future.

Waving goodbye, Pee Nang called out, “I’ll see you later then!”

As Kay El waved in return, he wondered if managing his house fly problem would be easier than managing his young employee.

I received a very suspicious mail today from CIMB Bank regarding a change/upgrade in the security of their online website :

One thing I know is that banks do not send out emails asking you to change or input your passwords and et cetera.

If you look carefully at the image below, you would notice that the email address is not even a proper one from CIMB Clicks/Bank.

I showed this to my station neighbour/colleague a.k.a. Alan. (yes, I am writing this post whilst in office <:P ) We decided to take a look at the site to see how convincing it was just for the heck of it. First thing you would notice is that it looks very similar to the login page of CIMB Clicks.

Have a look at the address bar and you would notice immediately that site is a fraud.

1. The address on the bar does not point to the official URL which is obviously, CIMB Clicks.

2. Secondly, the site is not secured. When you enter websites that are secure you would notice a padlock icon either on the top right or bottm right of your browser window, depending on which browser you are using. I am using Google Chrome

Here's a sample of the real CIMB clicks website's login page on Google Chrome.

Anyways, let us proceed. I entered some crap ID and Password and this was what I got. (excuse my language) A hideous, early 90's colour choice and layout complete with highlights and spelling mistakes.

Notice also how they ask you not to log in within a period of time? That's because they want to make sure that you don't log in when they're about to drain your account of money =/ And really, I think they didn't bother about the design of the last page because hey, they already have what they need from you so no further effort is needed to make the site look....convincing.

So the lesson to be passed on here is,

1. Banks don't send emails. Even when they're gonna suspend your online account, you will not and never be warned. The only things that they do send are emailers letting you know of their latest promotions/etc. They're no-reply emails.

This is an example of a real emailer from CIMB.

I also got an email from 'Maybank' telling me to reactivate my online account and the email also contained a link to a totally suspicious website. But I knew during tha ttime that my online Maybank account was already suspended. Quite silly la.

2. Always check for the security icon when making online purchases or doing banking/money-related stuff on the internet to make sure that it is a genuine, secure website.

If you come across a similar email or website, you can always contact that particular bank either via phone or through their website or email.

I know for sure CIMB bank has a particular section you can go to to report about these phishing sites. It's best that you report on it so that others, liek your friends and family, maybe saved from having their accounts drained.

Anyway this post is just what I wanted to share with everyone. Hope it helps.

And just a reminder,

Photoshoot date changed to November 2nd, Sunday instead of November 1st due to the fact that May and William are unable to attend it on that day. I HOPE AND PRAY that everyone is free on Sunday for this photoshoot.

Currently, we have a choice between my friend's apartment in Shah Alam which I have also previously used it before for a video shoot and I think it should suffice. Otherwise we are forced to use James's house but the problem is, his walls are PINK and his couch is YELLOW and the curtains are FLOWERY which is totally not what we want.

Due to the positive response we'll be having out very own MAFIA PHOTOSHOOT!!! So it will be on 01.Nov.08...which is a Saturday. We have yet to find a studio, so if anyone knows of any studio...please don't hesitate to inform Eve or me, JT. Everyone of course must be present, and I mean EVERYONE....and I MEAN IT!!! Please confirm whether you'll be able to make it or not with me(JT)...or I shall hunt you down!

For Royce, any suggestions? I suggest we have Royce lookin like a star photoshopped into like a really old classy looking tv....If you guys have better ideas on how to add Royce in the picture, please share...and what I meant was sumthin like this...

List of Things You Need To Know for CONVO

For those of you lazy buggers who did not attend the briefing for the graduation convo yesterday morning, here's what you need to know.

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY AND COMMIT TO MEMORY.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Photography Studio will be open from 9am-3.45pm ONLY for students with families from out of state. Please give them priority. For those of you who are living around in KL, please have your photo taken before the day of the event(before the 5th) or after (like 6th onwards) Just go to the photo studio (somewhere in Cheras) mentioned in the letter. The studio will know which robes to give you according to your major.

Please arrive at the hotel with ample time to register, collect your robes, wear and get yourself ready for the Graduates' March by 3.45pm. You collect your robes from Subang Ballroom and you MUST be robed and ready in front of Selangor Ballroom by 3.45pm LATEST. Registration starts at 2pm so you can come by then. March starts at 4pm. If you are late, you will not be "graduating" with everyone else and you will be forced to sit with your parents on the dinner tables instead of sitting with the graduates.

Attire:

For girls wear long pants or skirt otherwise you will look naked/ as though you are not wearing anything underneath your robes.

For guys, please wear formal (long sleeved, collared shirts and slacks) and accordingly and WITH a blazer.

Please be reminded that NO JEANS(especially TORN ones), T-SHIRTS or SLIPPERS are allowed!

Hair :

Girls: Don't bother having your hair sets in salons as you will have to wear your mortar boardson top of your heads anyway.

Guys & Girls : Please ring pins to secure mortar boards on head.

Shoes:

Girls: Please wear comfortable shoes that you can walk properly in to avoid embarrassing falls when tottering on stilettos .

You will be given name cards so PLEASE hold on to name cards carefully. Do not fold it or crush it or destroy it.

There will be 2 guardians/ushers at the beginning and at the end of the lines holding cards stating your Majors so line up accordingly and they will bring you in when the emcee announces.

DON'T clap during presentation of certs for diploma holders. Please remind your parents and guests to not clap at all during the presentation of diploma certs in order to be fair to everyone BECAUSE the first few might have thunderous applause then people will get tired towards the middle and end so the students who are at the middle and end of the line will get little or just charity applauses. SO please tell your parents to not clap. You are allowed to clap once the presentation of Dean's List/ Industry something something to the selected students start.

The ceremony should finish and dinner should start by 6.30pm.

When collecting certs:

First walk up to your respective department heads, bow to them. Then walk up the stage to the Dean or Principal and shake his/her hands, collect cert and walk down the other side of the stage. Follow the ushers standing by and go AROUND the ballroom and go back to your seats on the other side of the ballroom. PLEASE DO NOT CRISS-CROSS BACK TO YOUR SEATS.

There will be markings on the floor to tell you where to go and where to stop. So please lookout for them. Otherwise, lookout for the ushers.

The cert that you receive during the ceremony is just a congratulatory note. You need to collect the actual diploma from college the following day. Please bring along your student ID otherwise you will be fined RM30 before you can collect your Diploma.

Please be reminded to NOT eat or go to toilet with robes.

For hotel accomodations, please book rooms under The One Academy. Rates at RM260 and RM280

Anything else, ask Va Nee.

On a different note. I was thinking of getting a room at the hotel during convo. It'll provide a safe place to keep all our things and all. I mean we won't have to worry about rushing, transport and traffic if we stayed there for a night. Can change clothes / get ready without having to crowd with everyone in the toilets at the ballroom area. Don't have to worry parents or make them wait to fetch you after the dance session. Can have one last sleepover with close friends.

So if you guys are interested in sharing for one of the rooms, please let me know okay?

I've been so addicted to USAVICH recently (ever since I copied it from the DG Animation Lab :P) and I just can't get enough of it!

USAVICH is a series of short animation of two bunnies and their lives as prisoners. One, a lovable idiot, the other a super-bunny time-bomb. The entire series is so extremely cute and funny. A must watch!

I'm trying to fit together an outfit for the Graduation Campaign photoshoot next week and I have no idea what to wear! The colour theme for my major is unfortunately, orange. I don't have many decent orange outfits so I went around borrowing everyone's stuff. Now it's just the problem of which combination to wear.

I tried on a few things and what I'm trying to go for is an outfit that is neat, professional-looking yet still fashionable and flattering and very "me". I just got me new phone yesterday, whee! It's a Samsung L760! Actaully I had not thought of getting a new phone but my old W800i was showing signs of it going so I thought I might as well sell if off while it's still worth something and get meself a reasonably priced phone.

It's got 3G, 1x 2mega pixel rear camera, 1x 0.3megapixel front camera! Can have video call with other people now..but I need to register for either Maxis or Celcom 3g first... and I also gotta find out who actually has 3g in the first place before we could actually start a video conversation...

Ok guys, I know it might be a little shocking to come in and see the dramatic change but I think our blog's due for a makeover. Not only was it totally abandoned, it was also extremely boring (I'm being very nice here)

I just looked around for an easy to install template and just whacked it on. I've also updated our template to XML instead of the old HTML layout.

I know it doesn't look FANTASTIC but I think at least it's a change of scenery. If anyone of you can find something nicer or better yet, design something for our blog, then please do so. (don't look at me because I have yet to update the design for my own blog. Very busy :P )

It's been centuries since the last time I've posted something here. Not to mention, the last time I joined Shidio gatherings. Other than AD Shidios, everyone I met was just "Hi" and "Bye" and a little chat. Sighs.

One of the many things in Shidio that I'm proud of is the friendship that we try so hard to preserve, the Shidio link. (Even though a lot of times, I missed the Shidio gatherings and trips.) Now, it's harder so, with all our assignments and projects wrapped around, tying us down. (AD ppl would definitely agree.) What I'm trying to say here, is that, I wanna have fun fun fun again with Shidio. Hope we could agree on a good plan during the holidays again. :D

And before I end this post that will most probably last for the next few weeks till the holidays come...

ALL THE BEST, ROYCE! *hugs* I'm already missing the times we hang out together. Clubbing, KARAOKEing (Darn, I need to go look for another karaoke partner to duet with now...T_T), staying over at HQ, doing projects together... All the fun 'out of college life' experiences that I've had... Thank you... :) Study extra hard in Aussieland (since you already know how to play hard.. haha XD - I wonder why that one sound funny? it's really been a blessing that the rivers of fate swept me into the oasis that is the Shidios. i do believe tat there are events that are fated. And entering into their tight-knit group is 1 of them.

It showed me the possibility of being part of a big clan. Da sweet support shown to me will always be appreciated. But I feel da tides pull me to another shore. As da moon rises in da star-speckled sky, I can't wait to see the same view...but faraway from here,in another world.

At 14, I remember having a dream of my 21st birthday in a distant and different land. It seems da flow of things does lead toward it. I only half believed da dream till now. I was afraid of leaving my friends, afraid of leaving da comforts of home. But da more I thought about it, da more I realized that I really wanted this. so much that my fear melted away in the heat of my own enthusiasm.

I'm tired of my fishbowl world. I wanted to swim into the ocean. Find da wonders beyond da familiar. Finally gain experience and taste exposure for my own.But this place will always be my childhood home, my beginnings, my river's starting spring well.

So friends, I bid you farewell and good luck in the rest of the studies. I shall be flying off on the 26th at night, reaching there by the 27th and beginning my studies straightaway.
Don't hesitate to visit me whenever you guys have the chance.

Alright so next Shidio birthday coming up is Shaza's and I was asked to help with planning. She won't be available on Sat (her actual birthday) so we'll settle for Friday evening, After the end of AD's Afternoon class at 3pm or 4pm, so the question is do we go to:

This dude from the drag racing scene has this racing machine maxed out on the inside, but he couldn't have given a rat's ass on how it looks like on the outside. So, he has looked for a friend of mine (who is also the admin/founder of my car club Team Sublime), and asked if there's anyone in his club that would be interested in giving his machine a free paintjob.

Obviously, he came to me and asked if I was interested in doing that project, and I obviously cannot handle it alone.

SO, I'M GONNA ASK ALL OF YOU PEOPLE OF SHIDIO FAI FAI WAN, WHETHER IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN THIS RATHER MASSIVE PROJECT TO FURTHER PUBLICIZE OUR NAME?

Anyway,me suggestion is to go watch Spiderman 3 together.The release date for the movie is on the 1st of May as stated by GSC.And by the way,this time the cinema venue is at Midvalley.Anybody got any other suggestions?One Utama's GSC is fine too.Kinda bored with Pyramid's TGV.What more they do not have a THX room.

Alright people. It's time to get started!

The amount days we will be disappearing from our own homes is 3 days. From the 27th of April - 29th of April.

The price for the accomodation is RM150 a night. So it's RM300 for two nights. RM300 divided by 12 people, we settle on RM25 per person.

On transport, we have Sam Goh, Christopher and yours truly offering our vehicles to send you to the breezy paradise of Cameron Highlands. Sam Goh is gonna drive his CRV, and moi in the City. I'll divide the fuel prices according to the consumption of each vehicle.

CRV: 2.3litre SUV. Consumption average at least RM70 from KL to Camerons. RM140 for round trip.

City: 1.5litre saloon. Consumption average at least Rm60 from KL to Camerons. Rm120 for round trip.

Waja: 1.6litre saloon. Consumption average at least RM60 from KL to Camerons: RM 120 for round trip.

4 people that are following Sam's car will be paying a total of RM35 per person + RM25 for accomodation = RM60.
4 people in my car will be paying Rm30 per person + RM25 = RM55.
4 people in the Waja will be paying Rm30 per person + RM25 = Rm55.

Those that are selected to be in the respective vehicles will pay a divided fee to their drivers.
Seat placements will be discussed later.

Venue of departure is AGAIN at Sam Tan's home. So those that are staying pretty far away, you can bunk at either one of our Subangite homes the night before. We LEAVE at 11am, Friday morning. Everyone is meeting up at 9am for breakfast. So, hopefully no one will be LATE.

What to bring: The usual necessary stuff like clothes, jackets/thick clothing(important!), toiletries. Do bring sleeping bags, pillows and blankets if you fear of a shortage while being up there. Do not bring any unecessary objects like gaming consoles, weapons or huge stuffed toys. But do bring card games, or board games that can seriously entertain and not cause anyone to kill each other. Importante!! It's very cold up there in Cameron Highlands especially at night, so, it is CRUCIAL that you bring at least one sweater and a thick jacket with it.

For the boozers, I'll be bringing up an OPENED bottle of Absolut Vodka, and prolly half a crate of beer. Anyone else that wants to contribute to the F 'n' B please let me know.

For fellow Digi students, I'll be bringing The Godfather to HQ for analysis since we're free from 2 till 7 thanks to Abdul Latiff.

Time: 8pm/9pm - late.

Alright people, it's been a freakin' long while since the day we have actually seen each other altogether in one place. So, this coming Saturday is our chance to do so. I want all of us to have a good time, without having too much to do, so I'm gonna do a simple 'drinks-only' chill-out party.

There will be contributions by me (duh..), I'll be bringing in the alcohol. An opened bottle of Chivas, an opened bottle of good ole' Absolut Vodka and a half crate of Carlsberg beer and Anglia shandy for the less alcohol enthusiastic Shidios.

Anyone else interested in contributing to this chill-out, please state your names and contributions. For those who don't fancy alcohol at all, do bring carbonated drinks, or you could bring in fruit juices or fruit concentrates, or huge tanks of it (only if you want to...).

A reminder to all that is attending: Please have your dinner before coming to the chill-out. We are not serving any food, or snacks or whatever. It tends to get messy after awhile.

Caution for alcohol drinkers: Have something slightly heavy before coming to the party. Solids in the stomach tends to help ease out the alcohol's effect. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL WITH AN EMPTY STOMACH, we don't want anyone to get drunk and kinky on that night.

And oh...Ethan 'The Boss' Gan is coming as well. He'll be reaching only after 11pm when he gets off work.

Shidio Parties: CNY Ang Pao Harvest (Pai Lin or Bai Nien)

Okay, so this has been planned by Jules herself.

First venue for the harvest is at Ashlei's home at 9am. She highly demanded that all of us should be punctual. We would follow the harvest route from there and backtrack all the way down to Sunway. Then we would all adjourn to Shidio HQ after the harvest is complete.

Transportation provided to Subang people by me, in good ole' Ferf. More transportation by others very well appreciated.

*BUT I seriously recommend that we don't use Ferfie at all, her mad drinking skillz during this festive season is at an all time high, and I would need to start charging passengers to buy her 'drinks'. Samantha, Chris or Wi... Sam can you help out? XD

Shidio Productions Movie Report

We did it!!! We completed a movie animatic in 7 days!!! Just 4 days of shooting, not bathing for 4 days plus last minute editing equals VERY FIRST SHIDIO MOVIE.................... SPLIT!

After watching a few of our classmates' movies we were somehow doubtful and at the same time relieved by the level of our competitors (Yeah yeah... that's not the right way). Anyway, when our movie finally played... this is what happened:

-Cal covered his face in shame
-JT hid under his hoody in shame
-"ASHLEI!!! You should've killed me yesterday!" said I to Ashlei
-Ashlei started laughing
-Cal started laughing
-JT started laughing
-Ben started laughing
-I started laughing... yes... the movie was damn funny to ourselves but our classmates were watching it intently
-I walked out of the auditorium. Rather shave my head bald than to watch in shame
-By the end of the movie, JT revealed his face from under his hoodie "Eh? Where'd the director go?"

- Lighting is also good actually. The mood is very appropriate you can almost feel it (10 POINTS FOR ART DIRECTOR AND CO.EDITORS!!!)
- Editing is good. The timing is excellent for the voices and all (10 POINTS FOR EDITOR!!!)
- Your main character is very good. Your actors and actresses are very good. I can feel that they are natural (10 POINTS FOR ACTORS & ACTRESSES!!!)
- Sounds effect is also good (10 POINTS FOR SOUND DIRECTOR AND EDITOR!!!)
- Your framing is also very good (10 POINTS FOR CAMERAMAN & DIRECTOR!!!)

Ah... happiness. We should now have a wrap-up party. Was hoping we wouldn't disappoint you other Shidios. Anyway... I would like to thank and congratulate the crew for a job well done plus a very very VERY BIG THANK YOU to the actors and actresses who dedicated their time for our movie especially Samantha, Chrystal & James. You three are amazing!!! So busy yet willing to sacrifice sleep and hell lots of time for our shootings WITHOUT ANY COMPLAINTS.

Big congratulations to Ashlei for being such an awesome producer!!! No one could've done it better. Everything still went on eventhough our producer got sick.

Kudos to Ben for the awesome last minute editing. There could have been no better editor! Also, many thanks for being an excellent co. director.

Three thumbs up to JT for the photoshop work and lighting though we'll need to acquire more advanced lighting equipment to unleash your full potential. Also, many thanks for finishing the storyboard.

Good job Mr. Cal Chan as cameraman. Being a cameraman is damn tiring. Especially when you have to listen to the director babbling about how the composition is not right all the time then reshoot everything all over again.

Although we never had many meetings involving Yee Jenn, but the effort in finding the sound effects were very much appreciated! Good job!

Lastly as director, I'd like to apologise for anything I said wrong that made you mm song/pissed you off. Thousand apologies...

I'm still wondering whether Peter Jackson laughed at Lord of the Rings during its premier.

Forum's last hope.

Shidio... the forum is now almost dead. Why? I can only think of these reasons.

1. Not many of you are interested in it.
2. A forum without graphics/images are plain empty and boring.

Any sane person would enter the forum and see it being inactive, would leave immediately... Plus the boringness of the layout.

I can only ask of also 2 things.

1. Please at least make it active, doesnt matter if your posts are senseless. Just to support it.
2. If you're free, a little help with the graphics in the forum would be appreciated. Like the header and the logo. Some small small images you can see around the site is nice too(If you know what i mean.)

The reason why I post this post.

1. There is another forum claiming to be an Unoffical TOA forum. Immitated us with the regulations and introduction. (I didn't guess they immitated us, I know for some reason.)

Their forum had just started a week ago and they have the same number of members as us. Each posting idiotic posts, but that doesn't matter, cuz it's active. Plus they have all the graphic designs all over the forum. The heads are all in AD55-2. They have time to do designs.

Why this post is entitled "Forum's Last Hope" is because, I have already ran out of all possible ideas to contribute to the forum revival. Here is the last place where I'm able to seek help. The best person for the job that is JT, doesn't have internet connection. The most motivated person, Chrystal has too many hobbies and is busy with the shidio cards and stuff.

Is there anyone else out there that is able to do anything at all for the forum?

Time, is running out. If this last resort appears fruitless, then the immitated forum will gain the entire college with the proudness of "I've defeated some other idiotic forum. We won."

Locally hosted torrents are still very much usable and I am still able to download at highspeeds of 150kbps from the local seeds (because I have a 8mb line which would have been rendered useless if it weren't for those angels from low yat. Bless you people <=) ) I hope there will be other sites who would host direct download files of the latest episodes of Top Gear and Fifth Gear as well as other anime and tv shows online. Okay guys... Since the same question/request keep popping up and posed to me, I've decided to bring it up the topic of name cards here...

First of all, I guess everyone agree on the green colour for a general Shidio logo?

Other colour alternatives - Blue = intelligence and unity (Shidio bond), Red = Passion in what we do.... or rather, I'll leave the decision of categorizing our expertise according to colours to you all lah...

I'll try to print out some prototypes for name cards by the end of this week. And all of you are definitely welcomed to put in some creative ideas for our name card too.. I can't be working on this alone, right? Hahahha XD

We have gone to PD, and no where else, now we're gonna take on Malacca.

We gonna destroy Malacca, Shidio style.

Alritey, here's the plan for the trip.

3rd of January, please be punctual, on time, at Sam's place. 7am sharp. Please.

Now a little list on what you should/can bring on this trip:

Towels (hand/body). Important: Do not share towels. Bring your own.
Toothbrush, Toothpaste and Mouthwash if any. Important: Same thing as towels. Common sense please.
Contact lens liquid thingy if you wear contact lenses.
Clothes. duh. 5 changes of clothes at maximum. Pack light. You can wear your trousers more than twice.
Shampoo for head and body. Important: Do not share unless you've gotten someone to share with you.
Handheld electronics eg: mp3 players, handphones, cameras, laptops... Do bring them.
Electronics eg: Dvd players, gaming consoles...please consult me before actually bringing it. (YES! I am allowing you to bring gaming stuff! Rejoice!)
MONEY. This is actually very optional. If you don;t have it, you can say goodbye to this trip.

Forum is now available and everyone agreed that they want a forum when the suggestion took place. And now, 90% of shidios don't give a crap about the forum.

So, the forum will go global for TOA students like our friends, seniors, juniors and other stuff. We, the moderators agreed upon it and some other shidios too. So if you disagree because of whatever reason you can provide, keep it to yourself. We're not interested.

And now, it's only a one step progress we have to make before globalizing it is to find a new name for the forum and not call it Shidio Studio as all forumers will call themselves Shidios if the forum is named that. So please give your suggestion for a new name and we can revive the forum once again with other people.

Forum will start globalizing when the people that left for Gunung Ledang comes back.

Shidio Logo (Kissital's Version)

Okay, after some test runs, Kissital brings you (again) the two Shidio logos...

The initial version and its modified one (not including the blue background)

I forgot to let you know about the concept of this logo, actually. Well, as you can see, our code number 0551 is the core of the design. I hope the logo to represent Shidio in any way - fun, energetic, curious, nutty and ultimately, creative. I dumped the green colour for the warmer one, because we're a fun and creative team with a burning passion for the things we believe in. (though the red still reminds me of NKF :p) And since we are professionals, I picked the more serious, but still artsy, typeface to link the logo.

Plus, the modified one looks more like an animal/creature now, looking at the viewer. I don't think I wanna add anymore to it. After all, logo needs to be simple and yup, even if it's as small as a 10 cents coin, it is still visible! *jumps in joy*

Hope you don't see boobs and nipples anymore in the new logo, Eve. *lol*

And if you guys like the modified logo, I'll proceed to come up different colour scheme for each of our departments - DG, AD, MM and IL. (And if really our Shidio Studios is fully established, more designated colours will be applied. *visualizes far in the future* Hohohoho)

p/s: I think we should come up with a Shidio forum, because the blog is getting really messy. And I believe a forum will be more organized as we can categorize our stuffs. Ethereal Showdown Pt.3 1/4

The fog was thick, the air was stale, and the light could hardly pass through the heavy clouds. The jungle has grown mysteriously darker than before. He has never seen the jungle in such dominance. It is like the jungle is not permitting any entry at all.

He pushes his way through thick shrubery and trees, getting stung by mosquitoes, and having branches slapping him in his face. He has been wondering through the jungle for the past 2 hours, and still no sign of his voodoo village. His overcoat was getting seriously muddy and the air is beginning to freeze up. He has to move quickly before he gets chilled.

He started picking up speed. From small stepovers to large strides. Then he broke into a run. He was desperate for answers. He needs information, he needs to know everything. That feeling was no ordinary feeling. He could be in danger, or it could be worse.

Then, he stops dead in his tracks. He takes a wiff of the air. That smell. Something's burning.

No!

He bursts into speed. His mind and heart racing. Could that thing have found out about my origins? Could it have known about this village? How could it have known? It's impossible!

Then it shone, a light at the end of his sights. It was glowing like a massive bushfire. He ran closer. He could hear voices. Voices that are in pain. Voices that are terrified. Terror filled the smoky air. When he got closer, he stumbled. He couldn't dare go any closer. He stopped, took a step forward, gasped and turned his back to the village. His heart, his powers could sense that his village is being torn to shreds. He cannot see another massacre like he saw before. If he did, he'll lose his mind completely.

No. I will not lose my mind. I am strong. I NEED TO KNOW!

He bursts through the growth and there he saw, his tribe has been ripped apart. Dismembered bodies of children lie dead on the dusty ground. The tribe people burnt alive, their charred bodies showing that they've been burnt for quite some time. Ashes and embers flew. The smoke billowing from the burning houses were suffocating the air. With a sudden charge of energy, he breaks forward, hoping that he could save anything alive. Punching through mud walls with his bare knuckles, to no avail, no one was alive. Then, he hears a painful shout. He knows that voice, he leaps into action. He runs towards the voice and there lying bleeding in hiding within the trees, the witch doctor.

He grabs hold of the doctor and brings him further into the jungle, away from the blazing inferno.

"Child, do not bring me any further. I am dying. There's no use hiding anymore."

"Doc, I want to know something. I have this sudden feeling, that there is something out there that has an effect on my powers. is there another being out that can match me?"

"Child, this being is also another creature like you. But, it's power is limited. When it bumped you-...

"It bumped me...wha--?" Then he remembers in flashes, he bumped into a lady just several hours ago. "How did you know?"

"I know alot of things, child. As I was saying, it felt it's own powers getting drained by your presence. You are the ultimate being, you can stop this threat." said the doctor, straining under his pain. "It's plans are unlike yours, you wish for peace, it wishes for planetary cleansing. Stop that thing before..uhh.." The doctor said his last and his body gave in.

No...you can't leave...not yet.

Ethereal Showdown Part 2

I think I have made the right choice...but what would happen if I snap again like I did 40 years ago? I can't imagine myself killing all of these innocent people.

He slowly trods along the busy streets, avoiding bumping into people. He is back in his city. The city he was born in.

And it feels great.

He breathes in a lungful of polluted Oediv City air. Ah, the great smell of Oediv. God, I've missed you. He walks past an alleyway, and he spots 2 men, beating the living shit out of someone. He stops dead in his tracks. He watches from afar, watching how pathetic these two men are. He walks into the dark alley.

"C'mon guys, it is broad daylight. Oh hello..." he says to the beaten man on the ground. Blood was streaming from his head, his eyes were bloody and swollen. He could tell that his legs were broken, he could tell, from the difficult breathing, he has shattered some ribs.

"Stay the f**k away, asshole! Do you want to get beat up just lke this guy?!"

"No, but, look at him," he says calmly, hands still in his pockets, "Do you think he deserves to be beat up like this? How would you feel--"

"Shut the f**k up foo! You some kinda wise old f**k up now?! Just who the hell do you think you are!?" blazes the first man. Clearly, these two men were pissed in the beginning, now, with the presence of this unknown stranger, they're going to kill someone.

"As I was saying, how would you feel if you were in his position right now? By the way, why are you doing this to him?"

"It's none of your business, asshole!" and with that, the first man swung his fist. Crack! The blow landed clearly on this man's lower jaw. It was a clean hook, so clean, it knocked the man backwards. He regained back his footing, stood back up, and smiled.

"Damn, you freak! You gonna die now!" yells the second man, he pulled out his knife and lunged forward. The knife dug inwards. He could feel that the blade was digging into this freak's flesh. Then he stopped. Something was wrong. He looks up at the smiling man's face, and he looked back down at the blade. No blood. He pulled the blade back out, just to see the gnarled, twisted steel at the end of his handle.

"Oh my lor--grughkk!!" Those were his final words as the smiling man swung his arm at this neck. Collar bones snapped, neck bones shattered, lower jaw fractured, all in one single and explosive blow. The first man, looked at his fallen comrade who lied motionless on the ground, began to tremble.

Oh, this is getting good. Alright JT, ask who he is working for, and why is he doing this.

He grabs the man by the throat and pins him the a wall behind him. "I believe you were telling me, why you were doing this to that poor man."

"*choke*My boss told us...arggk...kill him. He has som-urgk...debts unpaid." he choked.

"I see. You go back to your boss and you tell him, no more killing, or he dies. You hear me kiddo?" The gangster just nodded. "Good. Now go." With that, he lets him go. AS he watches the gangster run away, he picks up a small pebble on the ground and launches it at the man. The pebble flying at extreme speeds, connected with the gangster's left calf. Like a bullet, it penetrated, skin and flesh. Blood splattered, and he could clearly hear the femur snap into two. The gangster screamed and dropped to the ground. Howling in pain, he grabbed his leg. He winced and continued crawling away out of the alley.

He looks at the victim. He has passed, and there was nothing he could've done about it. He bent over, and closed it's dead open eyes. A middle aged man, somewhere in his 40's...shouldn't have died like this. He had a whole life ahead of him. The man mumbled something, stood up and walked slowly out of the alley, the same way he walked in.

It's only normal. People of Oediv couldn't have given a shit if they saw such things happen. People only think of themselves, their trouble is their own trouble. Get into one, and you're in deep shit.

As he thinks about what happened earlier, he suddenly bumps into someone. A tall lady. Wow, what a frame. What a body...he looks into her eyes, wooh, such eyes...he smiles at her, and she just merely gives him a blank look, and they walked away. He was so captivated, his heart beating rapidly, he suddenly trips and he fell face first into the hard concrete pavement. He gets up quickly and walked away as fast as he could to a cafe and sat himself down. He then realized that something, felt funny. What was this feeling? He felt slightly uneasy, but still feel a sense of attraction. He feels a strong presence, but what could it be? He could feel his powers emerging. His fingertips began to give off a faint glow, and he quickly hid his hands in his pockets.

Just what was happening?

Ethereal Showdown Pt.1

Flames erupted from the ground on which she sets her foot on. The path she walked, charred by the ethereal flames of her unholy powers. The ground tremoring with every step she takes, seeming to cause a volcanic eruption, or cause a mini disaster.

This world is unworthy of my presence, she thinks. It must be purged. It must be cleansed. Such filth, humans.

An ethereal mutation, a goddess. Such mutation is so rare that it is near impossible to achieve. Nuclear powered children are still vulnerable to effective physical attack, steroid-pumped mutations are still vulnerable to viral attacks, no single living thing on this world is almost as god-like as she is.

Formerly a young mutant with spell binding powers, she was disliked by her own kind. Declared a freak of nature, she was ordered to be executed. Killed by her own parents 2000 years ago, she was banished with a curse. Her soul was torn apart and was sent to the deepest parts of Hell. In Hell, she adapted well within the presence of the demonic beings, and in time, she turned the curse into her own blessing. She gained powers from it. Soon, she has grown so powerful, she has absorbed Hell completely.

She hovers above the skies, over the cities as a great sphere of flames, causing havoc and panic in the world. Dissappearing when fighter jets scrambled, appearing back again when they left. When she walks, she walks amongst the humans, disguised, as a normal female human.

The world is unprepared for such power. Since the 3rd War, the world was promised not to see a greater force than that. The promise, is about to be broken.

In this modern age, she is adapting slowly, she is taking her time. She has plenty of time to remove this defiled world of it's inhabitants. Her intelligence grows with each passing day, she is learning the ways of how the modern human work. She is planning, on how to clear this world, with them knowing it.

She walks past a mirror, and she sees the reflection of herself. Her spells are keeping her disguised, and she lets it break off a little bit. Now, her eyes, are flaming red. The ethereal flames, billowing slowly out of her eye sockets in the reflection. She smiles, and wears a pair of sunshades.

You look good, Kenxin.You look good.

She walks on within the hustle bustle of a city with skyscraping buildings, and the buzz of busy traffic. She observes every single person on the streets, until suddenly, she bumps into a shoulder of a young man. They both lock glances, for a mere second, and they continued on their ways.

She feels weak for a few steps. What's happening? She stops and looks for the man she bumped into. Then, she feels it. A powerful presence in her midst. Something, overwhelming with energy. Brimming with power. She is confused, she spins around, looking for the man. She begins to worry.

There is a being more powerful than me? On this planet? This is impossible...

the room was empty but extremely stuffy. only a table, two chairs, and a table lamp, but the room felt so hot and cramped. there was no ventilation. no windows, no other lights other than the hot glow from the lamp. 2 men, sitting opposite from each other, one of them, was in handcuffs. both sweating, feeling hot and sticky, they were both clearly uncomfortable with the current situation.

so, what are you planning to do?

as a young man, he has gone through more than anyone else in this world had. some say he is even more seasoned than a world war veteran, and living the life he is living now, he is going through what some people would call, hell.

a native of Oediv City, he was recruited as a soldier during the 3rd war. he was sent to do a recon job for his battalion, his average frame helped him hide from his enemies when taking on forests and places with extreme growth. then, he was sent to the deepest part of the forest alone, when intelligence suspected a small refueling base inside. he went in alone with only a small pistol and a camera.

instead of encountering his enemies, he encountered a voodoo tribe. he fled quickly when he saw that they were hostile, and his military training could not help him escape from the tribal hunters. he was shot down with a single poison dart, and was brought back to the tribal village. when the tribe was about to cannibalize, they were shocked to see him still alive a few days after being shot by a dart laced with poison from a poison arrow frog. a normal person would have been killed a few hours later being infected by the poison. the tribe leader was astounded and from then on saw him as one of nature's blessings. the great child. the given miracle. he was welcomed into this tribe and was allowed to leave and return as he pleases. until one day, the voodoo witch slashed him in his throat. he squirmed, he choked on his blood, and he finally died. the tribe leader was angered, his tribe's voodoo witch has gone nuts. they ordered the witch to be executed and cannibalized, but the witch just laughed and pointed at the dead body.

the tribe looked at the lifeless body, watching it still bleed from it's gash from it's throat, suddenly, a finger twitched. slowly, the wound began to close. the tribe could not believe their eyes. the witch was still cackling. the body then moved, and it stood up. the body, blood stained, dirty from the dirt on the ground, then opened it's eyes.

the immortal, is born.

he just couldn't believe his own eyes, he is looking at his own hands, feeling his own heartbeat, and he couldn't feel the gash that was given to him 10 minutes ago.

what has happened to me? oh my go...am i speaking your language?

yes indeed you are, young immortal. you are now a piece of heaven and hell. you're a demon, and also an angel. you have gained what all men have wanted since the beginning of time. to become a god, to be the fountain of life. young one, you're a part of nature, you're a part of everything.

and as he thought of an animal, he felt something strange happening to himself. he could feel himself bowing over, he could feel his body distort, he stopped thinking and he reverted back.

what's happening?!

you, my dear boy, are a shapeshifter.

he rushed back to his base, and upon reach, his base was about to be taken over by his enemies troops. he hid in the trees, and he watched his friends that he made, his commanding officers, getting killed mercilessly by the enemy. he couldn't stand it. he had to do something, even if it had to risk his life.

wait, i'm immortal.

he ran in, picking up a rifle on the ground and went in guns ablazing. he was shot in the face, he was shelled by tanks, and bombed by aerial strikes, but he still wasn't dead. then, something snapped.

his body grew, he shapeshifted.

he shifted into the form a simian. a gorilla, so big, he towered at least 10 feet. he smashed and he thrashed. he killed without mercy. his brain is telling him, kill kill kill, and his eyes are recording every single kill into his brain. he ripped heads apart, he tore limbs, he gutted anything he could get his hands on. he was a hulking brute with super powers. he was a god. nothing could stop him.

the massacre lasted a mere 20 minutes, and he has killed an entire battalion of his enemies.

when he regained his sanity, he could not believe what he has just done. the images of the people he killed with his bare hands were embedded in his head. he ran away from that area as quickly as possible.

little did he know, the witch was watching his moves from within the trees. and the witch...just smiled.

when he got sent back home, he admitted himself into a mental asylum and requested for the toughest, solitary confinement. and there he stayed for many years. until the day he couldnt afford to pay the asylum his fees, he was transferred to a maximum security prison. where he is staying currently. 40 years since he stepped into the prison soil. everyone knows who he is, and why he does not age at all.

in his cell, this is all he says:

i'm a killer. i'm a murderer. i'm....a god....hehehehe...

You know what, I'm getting tired of writing this junk. I think I will stop writing my own autobiography. I'm actually getting bored of writing this shit.

I'll probably see all of you in my next book, "How to Kill a god." by me of course.

Yes!!! Ok.. According to the current system, as long as you fail > 1 subject, you are only liable to study four subjects in that term. Three of your new term subjects and one of your previous term subject assuming you failed only one. Kinda hard to understand so I'll draw out a chart.
