Stand Up! Voice Out!

Hey guys... Listen up.

This is about the class schedules... Now, don't give me that 'not again?' look... I'm sure most of you would rather not have a Saturday class, let alone night classes (there's plenty in 2nd and 3rd year)...

I don't wanna run through this topic all over again here... Just to let you know that Eve is writing a petition letter and I might be writing in a complaint with my parents' signatures too... No, I don't mean to be a rebel or something... It's about standing up for our rights...

Things might change for the better - no more Saturday/night classes if this goes out well... But ONLY if everyone support this wholeheartedly... Personally, I don't think they'll change the current timetables in a jiffy, because I don't wanna screw up other people's schedules (and lives) as well... But we're speaking of another 2 more years in TOA... We'll practically have NO LIFE at all...just like what Sarah (senior) said...

So, possibly a small discussion on voicing out our opinions in black & white tomorrow? Before class starts? If we don't get 100% support from our own class, we can kiss our leisure times (and basically, a balanced lifestyle) a big fat goodbye...

Please? Tomorrow? Before class? Say you'll agree...

Hey, I not pray-pray okay?

This is tua dai ji ('serious matter', in Hokkien)....

p/s: Please talk to your parents about this too, if possible...

wow...err..i should support this movement,though...but i'm afraid that the management will come back at us and say that the lecturer for our cg has sumthin on thursday (other part-time work, for example)..but if it's ok wit the lecturer,we can ask for a schedule change...but i suggest askin the lecturer if he's actually available on thursdays...or else, our efforts would jus go down the drain..

i duno i should say this or not.... but i think they will ask the student that cannot make it on saturday class to join with other class for cg on different day.
maybe la~

i get what you guys mean... it's definitely the best if they can change the timetable without giving any troubles to anyone which I doubt so... it'll be chaotic if everyone's schedule have a big reshuffle... (actually, i do hope this doesn't turn me into a trouble -maker, bcos all i'm doing is ask of a more condusive study environment...

but this is not just about this term's schedule... look at the big picture... if our so called 'movement' is acknowledged, we won't be having saturday/night classes for the rest of our years... (and we'll be the 'heroes' for the juniors after us, as well... LOL :p okay, so not being modest here...)

it's HELLO to 'balanced lifestyle' with some air to breathe...

talk about this during class later??

not having any more night classes or saturday classes? hero to juniors?? just because of ur selfish ambitions??? this is the working world we're talking about.. no more high school ketams... i have to voice out.. i'm agaisn't these stuffs of so called 'revolution'.. good luck then~

okay, so I was really kidding about the 'hero' thing...

But do you have to say it as if it's a bad thing to stand up for our rights? 'Selfish' ambitions, you say? You might say I'm oversensitive, but just to let you know, I'm a wee bit offended. Lemme ask you a thing, do you really want a Saturday/night class?? Please answer me honestly.

So, basically what you mean is 'just let things be'...accept 'fate'... The Taoism way - Do nothing at all. Hmm...

Honestly, I don't regard this as a 'revolution'... I agree that there's nothing 'heroic' about it (I'm really joking about the hero thing) but it isn't wrong to voice out. So, either I'm gonna sit down and complain yet do nothing at all, or stand up, grab the chance and try work things out... (In fact, if we can get the lecturer to arrange his time to weekdays, that'll be the best...) And I'm determined on the latter.

Note: I don't have a car of my own and instead of having a Sat weekend off, my parents have to send and pick me at the station every morning.

if you think it's for selfish ambitions...fine. I'd still rather not have Saturday/night classes.

Sorry, had to get this off my chest. It certainly feels much better :)

Let's just ask the lecturer about his schedule first, okay?

i agree about asking the lectuerer of his schedule.. whether you're joking about it or not, by complaining and stuff by whoever started the word revolution.. haih~~~

no i'm not following the Taoist way of "Let things be" because I'm a Christian and I don't believe that we can't change anything even if we killed the world things of ketam... but my thinking is that the college set the schedule for us based on the possibilities of the part time lecturer's free time as you all know they're working too...

if i'm the lecturer with a stupidly busy schedule and purposely take my one and only free times too lecture you and seeing you guys bringing TOA down because of these stuffs... i rather quit...

no one is forcing you to join this college and pay for it. if you don't like saturdays and night classes(i don't like night classes as i stay far away but saturdays doesn't bother me.. if i have other extra classes on that day i'll reschedule it..) then you can go to other colleges that don't have saturday and night classes.

i know you're a christian.. i'm actually saying it to tell u a fact about Taoism... not to link you with it... *no offence intended*

but, go to other colleges and then waste all my effort (and my parents money) in toa? gua tadak money lor... just because i didnt get what i paid for, and i have to leave this college without a word/a chance to voice out? wah...pin dou yau kam jiok sou kah?

haih...i dun wanna argue on this... let's just ask the lecturer on this matter first thing on Saturday, ya?

tutup kes...

This is getting out of hand. And for one thing, it has nothing to do with religion.

You're talking about the part-time lecturer having, I quote, 'stupidly busy schedule and purposely take my one and only free times too lecture you'. My reply to that will be, if you're already 'stupidly busy' as you say and you cannot fully dedicate yourself to teaching, why bother teaching at all?

But anyways, this is not the lecturers fault nor the students fault, but the management's and I've already explained why earlier today in class. Personally, I do not mind having Saturday classes IF those classes were LAN classes which means we'll only have Saturday classes ONCE or TWICE. What I really do not like is having BOTH saturday classes AND night classes frequently for the next 2 years.

"no one is forcing you to join this college and pay for it. if you don't like saturdays and night classes(i don't like night classes as i stay far away but saturdays doesn't bother me.. if i have other extra classes on that day i'll reschedule it..) then you can go to other colleges that don't have saturday and night classes."

Fuwah. I must say, you really know how to offend people. Seriously, do you really have to go that far to offend us? If you don't support our efforts, and you have nothing nice to say, you can just stay silent. For one thing, when I had decided to join this college, I expected greatness from it. Rather than sit and accept that they have highly unfair class scheduling and apparently it ain't as great as I thought and waste the money that my father has spent on for my education in TOA, I'd fight for my rights and make it a good college like how I have initially thought of it being, as naive as it may sound.

Unlike the rest of you, I only have a single parent. Even so, I hardly get to see my father who's often overseas or outstation and even if he's not, he'll be out till late. The only time I actually get to see him is during certain nights(for dinner) and mostly during weekends(even that, it's not very often). I'll be frank with you, I'd rather spend precious quality time with my only parent than seeing you and the lecturers faces in the middle of the night and during weekends. You called me/us selfish, I agree but I tell you, I/we're not only doing this for my/ourselves, but my/our parent/s as well. There are those in our class who are less fortunate for the fact that they do not have ther own transport and stay far away and they rely on their parents for transport, be it picking them up from the train station or from TOA. Having classes on saturdays not only makes things worst for us, but for our parents as well. They have to make their way to pick their children up from college even on a weekend/in the middle of the night which is suppose to be a day/time of rest for them. Some of our parents are even working and they would have to reshuffle their schedule just to be able to pick us up. The fact that they're paying good money to the college, doesn't it also mean that they would also have less worries about us? So how dare you call us selfish when you're just being plain ignorant yourself?

So please, if you do not support us, that's fine because we're not forcing you to do so. But please do not call us selfish and insult us just because you think otherwise.

i'm not linking stuff with religion either.. just stating that i'm not following Taoist way.

'if you're already 'stupidly busy' as you say and you cannot fully dedicate yourself to teaching, why bother teaching at all?'

they teach also u 'tau siu' lar

'What I really do not like is having BOTH saturday classes AND night classes frequently for the next 2 years.'

we won't know this till future or by asking seniors..

"So please, if you do not support us, that's fine because we're not forcing you to do so. But please do not call us selfish and insult us just because you think otherwise."

like u said.. i'm just stating what i think. selfish even you agreed... i agree on looking for infos by the lecturers, just that i don't agree making such a big fuss about it by complain until.. fuyo~~~ anyway.. i guess i'm like Shawn who can't explain stuff clearly...
