I really think all of us should write a letter of complaint to the college. Afterall, we PAY the damn college, so why should we not have the right to voice our opinions and have it changed? I say we should all co-operate and write a letter of appeal/complaint to the management and have our schedule changed to NO saturday classes. We can say that some of us are from out-station and might want to go back during the weekends..blah blah.. this would make it hard for us to plan a short trip back home..blahblah... we are still students therefore our weekends should be free..blah blah.. whatever crap and send it to our college!!!!!!!!!

normally the schedule is according to the lecturer's capabilities.. if u change that.. then we might have to wait some time to start college again~ so i don't think they'll even make any changes even if u protest

we don;t NEED to wait for college to start later (OMG use your brains! Have you guys never done a petition before?!) All you have to do is write in the petition (with the signature of all of our classmates if possible) and wait. If they agree, at the very most we'll have to just go through a couple of weeks (perhaps till after CNY) for a change of schedule! If they don't we make more noise until they DO change it la!
we PAY good money to the damn college, why should we not get what we're paying for??? Don't be such a negative. Do you guys seriously want to have classes on saturdays?? Then there's no bloody way we can plan any short trip back home (for those like me who're from out station) or even have a relaxing weekend!! In the future, WORK, I mean real WORK in advertising agencies, illustration studios, Animation studios, any form of work that is suited for us designers, is going to be 24/7 jobs. If we cannot handle working late hours and saturday classes now, I really can't imagine what is going to happen when each and everyone of us has a job.

First things first, I'm not offended. But, I would like to point out that when we DO start working, we're working for our paycheck. HOWEVER, currently WE as students are determining THEIR paycheck. We are in fact, CUSTOMERS of TOA. Why should our comfort & satisfaction be guaranteed? An academy (a.k.a. business) without students(a.k.a. customers/money bringers) = no income= BIG FLOP. Therefore, I have the choice to choose WHAT and HOW I would like certain things to be. One would be very dumb to pay good money only to get a rotten egg, if you know what I mean.
About the 'what I said about you thing'. I was saying it as a matter-of-factly. Because the number of students having to take BM classes are quite small, therefore I think it's quite right to put that particular class on a day where the more student-populated classes aren't on. Obviously, everyone prefers not to go on saturday classes. I was not trying to point out otherwise as what you might have thought I was trying to say. If you get what I mean.

BM classes are small? Have you seen the size of it? It's almost the size of our combined history class during term 1.

I consider is 'small' because it's a combination of students from different classes. It's about 2 classes of students out of 6. Get it? That's why I consider it a small amount of students because not everyone from our intake is involved, only a selected few.

anyway, i'm making a guess here that the reason they arrange us a Saturday class because the lecturer himself might be a part-timer, like Michael last term. Since we're the first class, they'd obviously try to give us the best teaching support, no? I might be wrong in this, but I feel that most of our past lecturers are on the top quality list... (Okay, I agree that English proficiency-wise, some are not up to expectations.)
Would we've request for changes if last term's CG was on Saturdays? What if they'd put us with a lousy lecturer? Some of us could catch up easily with the lessons...but not all. I have to admit that I was 'lost' quite a number of times in CG too. If Michael wasn't our lecturer, but a broken-England speaker, it might've been worse.
What I'm saying is...maybe we should check with them about the lecturer... If really nothing could be done, then I'd rather have a Saturday class than a lousy/boring lecturer... Well, if Irwin turns out to be no-good, then I'll want to have it change too..
Let's not talk about working in real industries first. The schedules in 2nd and 3rd year are basically arranged according to the lecturers schedules, especially for AD major (one senior from AD told me). Because some of 'em have lecturers from the industry itself, real-life working designers, who cannot dedicate 24/7 to just teaching. They're part-timers like Michael himself. That's why we have Saturday/night classes. For me, I don't mind having Sat/night classes by the time I major in AD, if it means a chance to learn under the masters. It's just that I've been hoping that we won't have Saturday classes during the first year... (Unfortunately, my fears are confirmed)
Well, I know all of us would rather not go on Saturdays, so Eve you can get ready the letter. But let's not be too hasty to protest for a change of schedule. My suggestion is that we straighten things out with SRA. I wouldn't wanna turn things around just to have a lousy lecturer for the whole term.

Some of our classmates can barely catch up with michael last term, are you sure they can catch up with this new lecturer if he's as fast and fluent as james said he is?
I don't mind having an average Illustrator lect because these CG programmes can be basicly self-thought. Get Illustrator For Dummies or Illustrator Wow! and you're basicly an invincible pro. I think that CG programmes are all easier to learn through trial and error. After all, what our lecturers really teach us are which tool is for what, and so on. Go home and experiment on your com la. :P
Anyway I agree with chrys, they should not arrange for first years to have saturday classes. (i really hope that they'll hurry up and build an LRT to sunway soon, yeesh!) For every other class, I obviously want good lecturers. But particularly for CG I don't mind at all. Call me selfish but don't you guys realise that when you can't catch up with michael last term, you somehow managed to do it anyway either by the handouts he gave us or by trial and error all by yourself (and sometimes with the help of other classmates)? so for CG, it doesn't matter as much whether our lecturer is top notch or not.
DYKT: We'll already be paying more than RM15 just for parking next term?? What's more going back at 5.30/6.30 means that those who drives will be stuck in traffic jams which means more fuel consumption! I really think that our schedule for next term is downright shitty beyond words! I'd rather have early morning classes than classes in the afternoon!
I really wish our college has an automated online suggestion box like A.P.I.I.T. does. as well as our management is as helpful and efficient in catering to the student's demands. *sigh* I wish I was an I.T Student instead =_=
